Eligibility, Enrolment Forms and Fees
This Mercantile Agents course is funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training as part of the Strategic Skills Plan, supporting regional and drought affected areas. It is open to any existing mercantile agents in the specific regions.

The course fees are paid for by the Department, with students only required to pay the $209 Enrolment Fee.



Qualification and Units of Competency
This course is part of a Certificate 3 in Financial Services (Mercantile Agents) course.

The units of competency vay slightly depending of the specific SSP course location but may include:

  • FNSICIND401A Apply Principles of Professional Practice to Work in the Financial Services Industry
  • FNSMERC301A Collect Debts
  • FNSMERC401A Develop and Document Case Recommendations
  • FNSMERC402A Initiate Legal Recovery of Debts
  • FNSMERC304A Locate Subjects
  • FNSICORG302A Prepare Reports for Management
  • FNSICGEN404A Resolve Disputes
  • FNSMERC303A Serve Legal Process

    Course Timetable
    The course will be conducted via distance delivery however an introduction workshop will be scheduled and a compulsory attendance day will be scheduled for students who are behind.

    Successful completion of the course requires an approximate time commitment of 6 hrs per week for the 6 month period.

    Course Materials
    Students will be issued with a course materials folder which provides the first two modules to be completed. Once the first module has been submitted and assessed, the third module will be sent out etc.
